Lewes Climate Hub Opens

The long awaited opening of Lewes Climate Hub in Fisher Street, Lewes will finally take place.  Further details to follow.

Lewes Climate Hub is located at 2 Fisher Street in the heart of Lewes, to provide information on the climate and ecological emergency. We also provide practical advice on what action residents, local companies and organisations can take. We welcome everyone to help build a resilient and informed community to meet these challenging times.

What is the Lewes Climate Hub

Lewes Climate Hub is an alliance of local environmental and community groups (see the full list of affiliate groups here). We are an information and networking point on all climate and environment-related projects, events and activities happening in and around Lewes. We aim to provide practical advice on activities from home retrofitting to improve energy efficiency to tree-growing. We have links with similar hubs in Seaford, Newhaven and elsewhere.

What are our aims?

Raise awareness across the whole community
As a physical, highly visible hub that’s easily accessible, we especially hope to support those who have not typically been included in conversations and action on the climate and environment – including those with limited online access to information.

Encourage action
We aim to support residents, local businesses and organisations to take positive environmental action. This could include cutting carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency, supporting sustainable consumption and reducing pollution. We also want to see how we can increase sustainability across Lewes in areas such as energy, food and by minimising waste.

Help create a sustainable local economy
Lewes Climate Hub will also look to raise the profile of local groups, enterprises, businesses and job opportunities involved in mitigating climate change, improving the natural environment and supporting sustainable living – thereby contributing to a sustainable local economy.

Share ideas and find solutions
We want to help everyone find practical solutions to mitigating the climate and environmental crisis. This will include teaching and idea-sharing through workshops, talks and conversations with hub staff. We’ll also show how everyone can influence action by local and national government and the activities of companies and multinationals.

Help deliver a net zero carbon district by 2030
We aim to promote and support the sustainability goals of both Lewes Town Council and Lewes District Council, including LDC’s detailed Climate Change and Sustainable Strategy. We hope to be instrumental in helping the district reach its goal of net zero carbon by 2030. You can read about it here:
